This worksheet is on common nouns. Do you remember what a common noun is ? Any group of noun ( person, place, animal or thing) is a common noun. Like man, woman, boy, girl, city, country, domestic animal, wild animal, car, book, tv, are nouns which do not have a special name. There can be so many domestic animals. Now we come to proper nouns. Proper nouns are names given to nouns. For example, girl is a common noun. There are so many girls. Now let us take an example, Radha is a little girl. Here I am talking about a particular girl called Radha, and not just any girl. There are two nouns in the sentence. Radha and girl. Girl is the common noun and Radha is the proper noun. You have already learnt about the two main types off nouns. Common and proper nouns. There is another type of noun. We use it when we talk of a group of things. There is a name for each such group. A group of lions is called a pride of lions. Many sticks together will be called a bunch of sticks. Many book together may also be called a pile of books. There are so many such words used to name a group or collection. Those words are called collective nouns. Try and match the words with the groups or collections.
