Capital letters - why and when
Capital letters are also called upper case letters.
And small letters are called lower case letters.
Once a student had asked me, why do we need to use capital letters?
There are a few reasons :
1. Capital letters add to the importance of a word, phrase or a sentence.
Like, first person ‘I’ is always capital. ‘O’ or ‘Oh’ will always have an upper case ‘O’ to put stress on the letters.
2. Capital letters point out important words in a sentence.
Like, I will definitely go to school on Monday .
The important word here is Monday and that begins with a capital letter.
However, Monday is a proper noun, and will always begin with a capital letter.
There are some rules of capital letters, which you will find in the presentation.
